Merdwin's Banner

My dear friend, Scott has gotten a job in Orlando, Florida at the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter as, of all things, a wizard.

For as long as I've known him, (decades!) he's been performing as Merdwin the Mediocre, a slightly
scatter-brained, historically inaccurate medieval wizard.  Merdwin does magic, tells silly jokes, sings even sillier songs, dances around, entertaining children of all ages, (including old ones, like me.)

But, the economy being what it is, Scott will probably being working two jobs. So Merdwin's going, too.

His many friends threw him a going-away bash & I gave him this banner to help him announce Merdwin to folks in Florida.

I have been collecting fabrics, do-dads & embellishments for years, planning to make a queen-size bed quilt,
(yeah, one of those UFO's in the Long list)  but when the news came that he was headed South, I had to revise my plan & make something I had a snowball's chance of finishing in a week & a half! (And the week I had hand surgery)

So this is the result.. (I wish I'd thought to photograph the construction process to show here, but I hadn't started the blog yet. Live & learn.)
Pict#1 Magical Merriment is Merdwin's motto. Pict#2 His punch-line fanfare is "Ta Da" which I lettered on the back. Gotta love gold lame & Heat'n'Bond! How did I sew without 'em?
